I've had many "out of Chicago" hot dogs and this place is for sure one of the best. Its a drive up rootbeer stand and the entire menu is top notch. However, now I only get two Chicago Dogs, a large rootbeer (which is made right down the street and awesome) and onion rings. Trust me, you'll love it.

The International Bake Shoppe recently started offering Chicago Dogs as part of their menu. They are a retail bakery with a cafe that offers soup and sandwiches. They are using an all beef hot dog that is preared on a roller grill. It is served on a homebaked poppyseed bun that is not as dense as a commercially produced bun and is baked fresh daily. The dogs used in their Chicago Dog is larger than their local competitor. I would consider this the Best Chicago Dog in the La Crosse area.

Local Hawaii boy Owner Hank Adaniya moved to Chicago as a kid. Opened Hank's a couple years ago back here in Hawaii. It's the real deal! 5/1 natural case Vienna all beef dogs, with all the toppings including Vienna Sport Peppers and bright green relish, steamed poppy seed buns! Nice variety of specialty sausages (Polish, Brats and more). I'm a transplant, a real taste of Chicago!

This is as close to the Chicago style hot dogs I grew up with when I lived in Chicago. They have been in business since 1987, a year after I moved here. They have a regular hot dog with all the Chicago ingredients. They have a jumbo Chicago dog as well as a Polish dog that will make you drool. I tried the Chicago hot dog at Sonic last week and to be brutally honest, it was lousy. It may have had all the right ingredients, but it didn't taste like a Chicago hot dog. Sonic's coneys aren't bad, but their Chicago hot dogs aren't good.

Often compared to Gene and Judes by the people who have been there, but people dont go there too often cuz its a garbage neighborhood. I had never expected to eat a Chicago style hot dog-- living in the Deep South sort of made that unlikely. I'd wanted to try one, certainly, but this is the Greater Augusta Area (According to Augusta, anyhow) and well, not Illinois. I recently moved from Augusta to the above Evans (And sorry about the lack of a street number but that's how they describe the address on their take-out menu) and discovered this place within two blocks of my new home. And they advertised Chicago style hot dogs, along with Gyros, Italian Beef, and even the famed Maxwell Street Polish. Apparently, the founders are Chicago expats-- to be expected-- and they are (according to those few people I kjnow who have been to Chicago) doing it right. It's all there. Genuine Vienna Beef franks. Poppy seed bun. Relish that glows in the dark. Even the celery salt and sport peppers. The onions, tomatoes, picke spear and mustard goes without saying, and no, ketchup isn't an option-- you want it you put it on yourself. Why you would want it, I can't imagine. For those in the Augusta Area, try this out.
